Parker 51 is a story about a woman called Rose. At first, Rose had a lover and almost fiancé. His name was Nat Racket, a name she was not very fond of. She thought it was too slight and swattable.

At the start of the story Rose is relatively young. At the time she is still living at home. We hear about her love for words. It seems that the words are a big part of the character Rose.
I get a weird feeling about Rose’s ability to love someone like Nat, wanting to marry him, and then just leaving. It’s obvious that it must have hurt Nat.
But I don’t think she ever really forgot Nat. it’s like when she said she didn’t mind that the pen was lost, but I don’t think that’s how it really was.
