Grief is intense sorrow, usually and especially caused by someone’s death. People handle grief differently, some people need to get away from everything, and other people need to talk about it extensively.

Grief is the primary theme in this short story. ‘Let’s go to the videotape’ is a short story written by Fiona Maazel in 2016. In Fiona Maazel's short story, the reader encounters a father who tries to deal with the loss of his wife and the mother of his son.

Without hesitation, Nick lies to his son so he doesn't look bad in Gus' eyes. The fact that he could lie without even thinking indicates that he has lied on numerous occasions in the past.

Further causing distrust and miscommunication. Nicks extensive utilization of social media functions and a coping method for him to deal with the loss of his wife.

Nevertheless, this coping method creates an emotional gap between him and Gus: "There was, also, a hint of the disconnect that afflicts people who are filming an event instead of participating in (...) Nick beheld this spectacle at a distance and continued to film" (L. 15-20).
