Indledning
In a world of globalization, we encounter the face of the media in an increasing fashion. Even though media is not foreign as a concept, the whole process of using it has brought a lot of issues and debates.

Many discuss whether or not the validation gained through social media should be received with open arms, or criticism, and or if the social media, in general, actually helps people with e.g. Coping or not. That is what the short story written by Fiona Maazel “Let’s Go to the Videotape” is about.

Uddrag
“Let’s Go to the Videotape” tells the story of a farther and son. Nick, being the farther, and ultimately the backbone of the family, after the death of his wife, uploads videos of the son Gus, as a way of coping with the guilt and grief of not being able to confront the problems and trauma of the family.

After obtaining attention trough the videos, the problem of nick ignoring the underlying problems of Gus strengthens, and Gus is left to process his grief and guilt himself.

Finally, Gus uploads a video, a school project, in which he decomposes the accident, and concludes with blaming himself for the death of his mother. Nick realizes the struggle Gus went through but ultimately uploads the video, again using Gus as exposure, instead of discussing the problems.
