The chosen point of view in the story strengthens the story’s message by using this third person narrator meticulously. The narration is told by a non-omniscient and limited narrator and is attached to the main character Nancy Lee.
The readers only have access to her thoughts and feelings, which effects the readers relationship to Nancy Lee, accordingly they will feel sympathy for her.
The characters are directly described by the author, “She was smart, pretty and brown, and fitted well in life of the school.” (p. 27 line 26)
This directly description of Nancy Lee has the effect, that she appears just as the narrator wants her to appear, because there is no ambiguity about her personality.
The story seems more objective, since it is a third person narrative. The readers observe the occurrences by being the fly on the wall, so that they are capable to form their own opinion of the events.
By using a certain phraseology, the story implicitly angles the situations, and that is why it gets its message across.
