Miss O’Shay, who is the vice-principal at Nancy Lee’s school, has a vital role in this story. She is the one who has to deliver both the good and the bad news to Nancy.

Even though Miss O’Shay delivers the bad news, it doesn't change how Nancy Lee views her: “Miss O’Shay had a way of making you feel welcome, even if you came to be expelled.”
