What do we do when beautiful things die? In the short story “Beautiful Things” by Kate Vine from 2019 we read about that exact wondering because how do we cope with ourself when beautiful things die out and leave us powerless? These are some of the challenges the main character faces.

We don’t know what to do when beautiful things die ”. The way the narrator uses “we” in the last to sentences incorporates the readers and initiates to self-reflection for the readers if we were ever to be in a similar situation.
The wondering and reflection becomes a big part of the narrator’s character because it is more or less all she does throughout the story, even though she says it is not how she normally is.
Another thing worth noticing about the main character is that she can come across as a bit naive. Her significant other says he is in love with someone else and wants to explore that possibly and she still wants to be with him.
Either she does not know her own worth or else she fears what is outside her comfort zone and fears the uncomfortable.
