Have you ever experienced forbidden love? It may sound exiting and like an amazing adventure, but for the two main characters, Paulus and Thebedi, their forbidden love was not an amazing adventure, however, it was an adventure which led to death and a murder accusation.
“Country lovers” is a short story about the forbidden love between the white boy and the black girl, a love between two different social classes which is frowned upon.
A story that shows love and affection, but also a story that shows us how the pressure from the society can make you act.

The two main characters are Paulus and Thebedi. Paulus comes from a white, wealthy family which supports his education and helps him with creating a foundation for a good and wealthy life.
Thebedi comes from a black family where she does not get the help and support to great a richer life than her parents, and she works at Paulus’ father’s farm.
The two main characters are opposites of each other with two different skin colors, two completely different backgrounds, and two different social statuses.
