Indledning
When you grow up, you often move away from home and become less dependent on your parents because you have become more mature and independent. This is also the case in Zoe Lambert's short story "The Skirt" (2006).
Here, the young woman Bethany has also moved away from home and become self-employed, but all that changes in just one single night.

This has implications for how her feelings are described. In the quote, we as readers get very close to Bethany, she exposes her feelings to us, by telling she actually wants to cry but cannot because of her surroundings.
