The short story “The Skirt” by Zoe Lambert is about a paralyzed girl named Bethany, who is living in Manchester in England. Bethany and her Aunt are supposed to go to Market Street today.

The mother puts a skirt and a cardigan on the bed because a skirt is easier to put on than trousers. Then at breakfast, Bethany just pushes the pills combined with the gluten-free muesli away.

Once her Aunt arrives Bethany rolls back to her room and she takes her skirt off and instead, she puts on some pants.

Then Bethany rolls out of the house and decides to take the bus even though she is not sure that the bus even has disabled access. Then she drives away on the bus.
