” The Right Time to Fly” is a story written by American author, Shirley Golden in 2013. In this fiction analysis, I am going to analyze and interpret the story
with the help of the P.E.E method, focusing on the four key points, which are, a characterization of the protagonist of the story, Marcus, his relationship with Suzy, the setting and the title.

This helps us to further understand the opposite ways that Marcus and Suzy view the world. He can't see anything else than thrash and that is exactly what is supposed to be, where Suzy instead lets her imagination run wild when it comes to interpreting the trash, and that is how she sees these birds scattered around the landfill.
She helps him to realize that you can never be too old to try something new and to get a fresh start on life but it isn't until after Suzy is gone that he realizes what she was seeing all along.
The psychical setting is the landfill where the author uses the different elements from the landfill such as the cranes, the trash, etc. to explore the themes of the text which is guilt, freedom and letting go of the past.
