“I hated him the minute I walked in through the door”. A negative narrator takes us as the reader through the life of the main character Esther. The story “The bell jar”,
written by Sylvia Plath. We meet her at a psychiatrist’s office. where she is in for a talk with Doctor gordon.

The story is told in the 1st person narrator, which makes us see things from her point of view, and follow her way of thinking and what she feels is right.
It also means that we can only put ourselves in her tracks, and not in the others, so what she thinks is wrong, i most like the same as we think.
If we had heard the story from a 3 person narrator the story might have been different, I think Sylvia Plath chose to write it this way to make it easier to relate to.
The main character is Esther. We know that she is wearing some old clothes from her friend Betsy.
