This is Michael Brown. An 18-year-old High School graduate, who had his whole life ahead of him. Most people who knew him described him as “an ordinary teenager with much to like about him”.
He was posting armature rap songs on Sound Cloud, under his artistic name “Big Mike”, and was supposed to start a training program in heating and air conditioning repair.
This case shows a lot about police brutality in the US - especially towards black people. Not only was Brown clearly not a threat to the officer as he was running away from him
unable to threaten him with any weapons or anything, he also - as mentioned - was unarmed. This really shows the stigma of being violent and all criminals
that there are around black people in the US, if a police officer feels threatened by a man, simply because of the color of his skin.
Another thing that throws me off is that fact that Browns body was lying in the streets for four hours, in a pool of his own blood.
I honestly don’t think that this would’ve ever happened if it was a rich white man that had been shot by accident.
