Indledning
In today’s society, the topic of a woman’s menstruation is quite frankly some kind of taboo and is usually viewed as some kind of obstacle for men when it comes to sex.

It is of course also viewed as a burden for women, as the periods can cause heavy bleeding, bad cramps, and mood changes.

The feminist activist and journalist Gloria Steinem wrote the satirical essay for an early issue of Ms. Magazine back in October 1978, where she “changed the game” when it came to a woman’s natural reproductive progress and shows how it would be different if it was men, who had menstruations instead of women.

Gloria Steinem uses both logos and pathos to appeal to the audience, and a great example of her using pathos is when she mentions “manly” men, who appears to do things that are considered so be manly, such as being a professional football player, or a professional boxer:

“Some men would still pay for the prestige of such commercial brands as Paul Newman Tampons, Muhammad Ali's Rope-a-Dope Pads, John Wayne Maxi Pads, and Joe Namath Jock Shields- "For Those Light Bachelor Days."

And this quote shows us that she can make fun of the fact that the men she talked about were considered manly, and not something people would think of then they heard of “menstruation”.

Using humor is powerful when it comes to communication, humor is a coping mechanism when it comes to themes such as these.
