In this essay, I will start by giving an introduction to the British Supermarket Chain Tesco. I will focus on Tesco’s History and why Tesco is one of the biggest retail stores in Great Britain.
I will include advantages and disadvantages for the customers shopping at Tesco. Finally, I will state my opinion about Tesco in the future.

Tesco was founded in 1919 as a group of market stalls. The founder’s first shipment was tea and it was here he got the name of the company in 1924.
The first Tesco store was opened in 1931 and by 1939 the number of stores across the country rose to 100. Today (in 2017) the number of stores is 6553. What type of retail store is it?
Tesco sells groceries and a small range of non-food products e.g. homeware and electricals. The people who shop at Tesco are families and singles that represent the medium and low-income groups.
