Task 1
It´s a part of Walmart´s culture to have greeters and their customers love it. Walmart uses greeters to stand in the front lobby to welcome customers.
After a test, Walmart found out that their customers feel more welcome when there is a greeter standing in the lobby, who also answers their questions, helping with returning goods and keeping the entrance clean.
Walmart has also added a new position as a “customer Host”, that fulfils the traditional role of a greeter, but added more responsibility in preventing thieves from leaving the store with merchandise.
Where there is a need for greater security and safety, the customer hosts will be placed. Matt Talbot, the CO-and Founder of GoSpotCheck believes that the presence of greeters and hosts will provide greater security and reduce theft.
At the same time, it is very useful for those customers who need more information about the store or a product.
Detail and customer experience expert Kenneth Leung, believes it will work well to use greeters and hosts, to improve customer experience and community relations in family-oriented communities, but it depends on Walmart´s location.
Kenneth Leung has always thought that the reduction of greeters and hosts was more because of psychological safety than physical security.
Task 2
There are several ways to boost or increase sales in the stores. First and foremost, it is important with a competent sales staff who has a high level of product knowledge.
If sales staff have high product knowledge, they will be much better at answering customer questions and it will mean that customers will feel more confident and sales staff will seem professional and trustworthy.
It is also very important that the seller listens to the customer's needs and wishes so the customers experiences them being taken seriously and getting what they came for, thus covering the need, by getting the right goods.
If the stores don’t have the customer's desired item; the seller must try to find similar items or lead the customer to a store that they may collaborate with.
It will also be a good service while boosting sales by having greeters at the entrance of the store and welcoming the customers while providing customers with a piece of chocolate or something else, and it will open a dialogue and the customer may go into the store.
Many stores in Denmark do not have the best service, the sellers often do not really know anything about the product and often you will have to look long after a seller who can help you.
The sellers seem indifferent and very frivolous and seem not particularly interested in selling anything. I would personally be very mad at my staff if they had that behavior.
I think the most important thing is a service minded and professional sales staff, otherwise the money you spend on advertising and promoting your store will be wasted, as nobody will buy anything due to the lack of competencies of sales staff.
