“I Was The Face Of Disaster Tourism In Post-Katrina New Orleans” (2015) is written by Isabelle Cossart, who in her article tells how she as a young woman in her twenties living in France, moves to New Orleans, for what was supposed to be just one year teaching assignment.
However, she quickly falls in love with Louisiana and establishes a life there, making a living giving tours. In 2005 the hurricane Katarina changes everything and leaves its marks on the city of New Orleans. Isabella is convinced that her time giving tours is at an end and sells four of five tour vans.
At the beginning of October, everything turns around and people start asking for tours of the flooded New Orleans.
However, it turns out the tours have big consequences for Isabelle Cossart. It is questioned the way she makes money on the misery of others .
