Analytical essay:

“Bedtimes” by Tim Parks is about a married couple who is trying to avoid spending time together.

We follow them every day for a week. Every night they try to avoid, going to bed at the same time.

They avoid each other by making up excuses such as late-night walks with their dog, “business” emails or when the wife invites him to come to meet her friends, he does not want to because it is not his scene.

One night the couple goes to the cinema to watch a movie and end up at a bar afterwards.

They enjoy spending time together, but when they get home, they are back to avoiding each other and that is just one, endless, evil circle.
