Ultra-processed food is food that is produced in factories with industrial ingredients and additives instead of real fruits, vegetables, meats, and so on.

Almost half of the food we eat every day are ultra-processed food. It is the food like fast food, candy

and drinks, that don’t contain enough nutrients that our body needs, but is it dangerous if we only eat ultra-processed food?

As professor Monteiro said, “these foods are made from cheap ingredients and produced on a huge scale”

“if you have instant noodles that are essentially based on oils and starch and additives, you are not eating real noodles” (l. 33 -37) .

This is why ultra-processed food isn’t healthy, it is not real food, but starch and additives. That is the real reason why people are missing out on fibers, vitamins, and minerals (l. 39-40) .

People don’t really think about what the consequences can be if all we eat is ultra-processed food and what kind of effect it can have on our body

but the real reason for what can happen, haven’t been found yet, as professor Monteiro said “the honest answer is we don’t know what’s going on” (l. 45-47) .
