Indledning
When you have been married to someone for many years, the sparkle that might have been there the first years of the marriage, seems to disappear in some cases.

You and your partner ́s sex life might be gone or not like it used to be. This leads to many wanting to find that sparkle again, but with someone else and unfortunately while you are still married to your spouse. This is the case in the short story The Storm written by Kate Chopin and published in 1898.

Uddrag
The Storm is about a family consisting of the mother Calixta, the father Bobinôt and their son Bibi. Bobinôt and Bibi are out grocery shopping at a local store, when a terrible storm arrives.

They decide to wait the storm out at the store instead of trying to reach home. Bibi is concerned about his mother ́s safety, because she is home alone, but his father reassures him that his mother will be alright during the storm. At home, Calixta is not worried about the storm.

She is calmly doing the laundry, when she sees her former lover Alcée on his way to her gate to seek shelter from the storm.

Their former romantic connection has not faded through the many years apart. As the storm rages they make passionate love, and as the storm calms down, they separate. When Bobinôt and Bibi finally come home, Calixta is thrilled like never before to see her family again. Alcée is also very happy he writes a letter to his wife Clarisse, telling her, that she can stay on her trip as long as she likes.
