Ultimately Mary and Wallace's lack of communication and interest with each other has led to the relationship becoming monotonous and dull instead of affectionate and loving.
The title “Memory Dance” refers to the two settings of the story, which are the kitchen and the dance hall.
In the kitchen memories suddenly flows back from their lovely dance, they once had at prom creating the title “Memory dance”. Also making the main theme elderly love.
