Indledning
”In Between the world and me” is a book written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, who is an American journalist and author. Coates is telling his son the story of living in America, by sending him a letter wherein he conveys how life is and the struggle he faces as he lives in a black body.
The theme in the book, which describes such a lifestyle, is the repression of black people through the American social system.
By embracing the theme of repression and abjection, Coates demonstrates the destruction of the black community and he educates his young son about the truth of blackness in the USA.
In this essay, I will provide examples and quotes from the book to emphasize my three focus points: Rhetorical appeals, the main theme(the lack of the American social system) and, figurative language.
