Indledning
It is easy to get caught up in your everyday life and lose sight of what is really important. Sometimes we forget to appreciate what is right in front of us.

This is the case for the teenage boy Max in the short story, “How Lucky You Are”, by Debi Alper from 2010.

Max bunks off from school and has an eye-opening experience which makes him think twice about his own life and the things he takes for granted.

In many ways, Ishraqi is a opposite of Max. While Max comes across as confident, Ishraqi seems more insecure, for example when she leans on Alexsa for support as she tries to speak English with Max .

She is also very motivated with her schoolwork, while Max mostly dismisses it. The biggest difference, however, is found in their backgrounds. Compared to Ishraqi, Max comes from a place of privilege, of this the title “How lucky you are”.
