Uddrag
TJ Corrigan's short story "Hemi's gift" is about a girl who has an inner epiphany about solace thanks to the aid of a Maori man she encounters named Hemi.
He bestows a variety of blessings upon her, the most important of which is serenity. She encounters Hemi on the same bus as she is heading to her father's funeral in Whangarei at the start of the novel.
She quickly dismisses his appearance and demeanor as stereotypical. When the bus comes to a halt and Hemi offers her food and smokes, her inner prejudicial monologues about him come to an end.
She focuses on her experience with her father as they begin a friendly dialogue about his life, and eventually seeks harmony and understanding.
Analytical essay
Prejudice and prejudices are developed to defend oneself, and they are literally ingrained in our biology.
Those stereotypical traits aimed at certain classes of individuals, on the other hand, are rarely real. People who make conclusions often know this when they interact with real people rather than stereotypes.
A Maori girl is skeptical of another Maori man in TJ Corrigan's "Hemi's Gift," but she finds that she could not be more wrong by his generosity.
