Parenting is the most influential and meaningful task a person can have, and which approach you take can significantly shape the life of your child.

While most parents’ primary goal is to provide happiness and avert adversity, there are various ways to do so. Some kids are encouraged to fol-low their wants and needs while others are monitored closely to succeed academically.

In an interview with ABC News reporter Juju Chang, Amy Chua describes that the intensity of the discussions surrounding her book has led to people threatening her and her family.

“It just feels like it’s had a life on its own, people saying terrible things about my kids - whishing bad things on my family, so I guess its just so personal for everybody.”

Amy Chua explains how she has raised successful daughters by adhering to the strict Chinese parenting style.

Her daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to have sleepovers or playdates, watch TV or play video games, or choose their own extracurricular activities.
