Indledning
I’ll start off with a quick summary of “Father”, then move on with the analysis (CAIP) and finishes off by drawing lines to the text “New York Stories”
“Father” is a short story which means that it’s a fiction text.
The text is about a father and a son wandering through New York from bar to bar in the 60’s.

His father also seems to have a drinking problem since he is taking Charlie on some kind of a pub walk. We can also hear it in the start of the short story when Charlie describes the father:
“It was a rich compound of whiskey and after-shave lotion, shoe polish, woollens, and the rankness of a mature male.”
We hear him describing him as smelling of whiskey. So also, in the beginning of the text we get an idea of what the father is up to.
The father must be a wealthy and a man with a high position since he is a club-owner (line 10/11) and also has a secretary (line 3/4). We can also see he is a man of position with his formal language.
