Indledning
Decisions are something you have to make throughout your life. It's not always easy or fun, but it's necessary. When is it the right time to do it? Sometimes you make the right decision, sometimes you make the wrong decision. It's too late to change it.

In the story “Are we nearly there”, written by the London based writer Kate Smally Ellis, the main character has to make choices, but do not think about the consequences.

Through flashbacks, self hatred thoughts and an annoyingly paranoid mother who won't shut up, we enter the mind of the 17 year old main character Jen, who is driving on the highway with her family, Mother, Father and Sister.

The pressure from the mother and sister and the stuff she did last, has a big effect on her and she is still coping with the idea of a new identity.

Jen describes her mother as a “New white hairs spring from her temples like worried antennae. My eyes lock onto her tense profile” (s.24-26)

Jens mother is tense throughout the whole drive, because she does not trust her daughter's driving. “Not that much! Someones behind you! Slow down” (s.59) This leads her to give Jen instructions constantly throughout the drive.
