Diversity is a lot of things. A common position is that difference and diversity is a good thing and that it unites people.
Certainly, the opposite is a scattered belief as well, and according to some people, diversity is erroneous and disperses people even more.
The short story “Another Community” by Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Narayan enlightens the conflicts that occur between two diverse communities.

Throughout the story, the man gets progressively more anxious and commences to fear for the safety of his family in this community.
It becomes clear that his life quality is actively affected by his anxiety. (Page 285, line 30-34) “He could almost hear the terrified screams of his little daughter and wife.
And all night he kept brooding and falling off into half sleep and kept awake, awaiting the howl of riotous mobs.” In this quote, it appears that he is concerned with the safety of his daughter and wife in particular and that he imagines them screaming at night.
His worries about the rumors and conflicts keep him awake at night, which leads to him resolving it is necessary to keep the woodchopper near at hand, in case he had to defend his family and home.
