Love exists in many forms, but the most important love comes from one's parents.

Love is the most important thing to give to your children. The love of one’s parents contributes to a child’s development.

No children should be discriminated against - whether you are a boy or a girl. Discriminating against their children puts its mark on the children’s future development.

This case is seen in the short story “Streamlining” by Muli Amaye, which is expressed by the fact that the mother discriminates Jose and Brandon.

The main theme in the short story is discrimination on one’s children and the importance it has for the future development. In this story, it is the mother who discriminates against her son, Brandon, and her daughter, Josie.

We see this among other things in the quotation: “She watched over the privets as the front door opened and he was enveloped in a bear hug.”

(ll. 106) and in the quotation: “Mother stood on the step, a fixed smile on her face, scanning as much of Josie as she could see.” (ll. 109). Here we see that the mother is happy to see Brandon but sees Josie as a burden.

The way her mother speaks to Josie also shows that she is annoyed at Josie already. We see this in the quotation:

“Well, are you just going to stand there? What are you gawping at? Did you get fresh mango? I want to make some jam. Come on, hurry up I don’t want to heat the street.” (ll. 111-112).

Instead of her mother helping Josie with the goods or asking Brandon to help, she hurries and stresses Josie. By these quotes you clearly see who the mother is favoring.
