Uddrag
Minian convinces her reader of her message by using the appeal form, Logos, in the shape of logic arguments, facts or numbers.

For example, “Last Sunday, as Border Patrol agents were tear-gassing Central American asylum seekers, including parents with their toddlers, more than 40,000 other migrants were being held in detention facilities across the United States2 .

In this quote, Minian uses both facts and numbers to introduce the reader to the topic of her article which is the treatment of immigrants/asylum seekers in the U.S. today.

Besides logos is the article also based on pathos because it applies to the readers feelings.

The story about Mr. Herrera is also based on pathos, because of the sad story about the money problems in his family and his jailtime because of minor crimes.

The article says: “Like many an elder sibling, he felt responsible for his family’s well-being. But life in Cuba was hard and he was regularly unemployed.

His family often went hungry3 ” This proves the hard life that Mr. Herrera had in a early age.

This is based on pathos, because it applies to the feelings of the recipient that feels sorry for him and tries to and trying to put himself in his shoes.
