Indledning
The story worlds apart by Margaret Barlow is about an English girl who decides to step into the Muslim way of living, by marrying an Arab man named Salem.
Mary knew that there would be some issues when she married Salem, but she couldn’t say no to him. They started out by living in London, but after a couple years they went to Salem’s home country.
She met his family and the difference between an English family and an African family was too big for her. They lived in a house with his grandparents, parents, and sisters.

Signing the papers would such an overprotective and dominant man like Salem probably never do and they could be trapped in the country forever.
When Salem leaved the house he would tell what he would like for his evening meal. The way their relationship is really reminds me of the 1950’s. back in the 1950s, it was the men who worked and supported the family.
The woman had to cook, clean, and look after children. This seems like being the way Mary and Salem live.
