Knowledge is key and perspective is not always a given but perhaps a knowledge we acquire over time that makes looking back on seemingly bland and ordinary situations as beautiful and highly treasured moments.
The story takes place in a train heading through Scotland towards Inverness. It is mentioned that it is just past 10 am and the sun is shining through the windows of the train.

The plot is revolved around this one moment in the train that does not have significant momentum but is, in fact, the happiest moment of the protagonist’s life.
The story’s structure is somewhat chronological. After a few flashbacks “The happiest moment of his life so far, besides the one he’s about to experience, was when he saw Alice waiting for him outside what was then still called Kentucky Fried Chicken”
dedicated to making the reader understand the family’s backstory and then the important climax of the story Don’s life story is painted out in sequential order. It is a very believable story as we are told the story through Don’s memories of his family.
