Good morning everyone. My name is Tyler Booker, and as a member of the debate team at my college, I am very proud to attend the Oxford Schools Regional Debate Competition.

As you all know, this year’s theme is “UK Challenges”. I appreciate being invited here to give my take on poverty in the UK.

To be more specific, I will account for the increasing poverty in the UK, then discuss different attitudes to poverty, as well possible consequences of the current austerity policies.

Children do not get enough food for them to concentrate and learn at school, and the same applies to adults, where some parents have fainted in schools because they also do not get enough to eat.

I many different schools in the UK, they are fighting the same battle. Children do not get what to demand. Children don't care if they get a mobile or something like that.

They just want something to eat, a warm home and someone who loves them. It is not fair that children feel that way, it is not fair that children should be unsure if they get something to eat, it is not fair that children get diseases due to poverty.

It is a huge problem that many families with children are struggling with and they need help. One of the consequences of poverty in the UK is that children get diseases at a fairly early age.

A disease that has passed again is rickets, where children have weak and soft bones, which means the bones are not fitting properly.
