Here is a brief description of myself:
My name is Elisabeth Brown. I'm from a small town not far from Washington, where I work in The National Retail Federation.

It's a pleasure for me to be here in Palo Alto today. Today, I´ll talk about the historical development of malls, and then I’m going to talk about the future of retailing.

This is my view on what will happen in the future with the shopping mall industry.
In the U.S., malls are a huge industry and all-dominant in retail. More than 50% of the United States total retail sales were in nearly 110.000 shopping centers in 2012.

As we know, more and more shopping centers are closing, so what will happen to the whole shopping industry in the future?

When we need to do grocery shopping, most people still use the physical grocery stores. That way we're sure that we get good quality goods for a reasonable price, and perhaps with a discount, so we can save money.
