Indledning
The film starts with an introduction to the main character who is a 12-year-old lad called Shaun. Shaun lives in a poor neighborhood with his mother because his father died in the Falklands war.
Their lifestyle, home and clothes are the quintessence of the fact that they are living in a working-class family. Shaun is doing his best to protect himself in school which is pretty tough because of his father’s reputation or the whole family’s reputation.
He tries to stand up and confront the older boys but without any luck which leads him to walk home crying.

On the way home, a gang of skinheads are trying to get in contact with Shaun. The gang are easily recognized by their look and he instantly knows who they are. Shaun is getting a bit frightened because of their reputation of having a violent behavior as his eyes catch them.
The get in talk and a whole new world opens up for the young lad. He gets in a community with friends who have his back, girls who are a lot older than him and he suddenly realize that someone love him and protect him from the evil.
A lot of things go his way, he become much more self-confident and he believes in himself. He is living the life he always wanted until one day.
