To put the story in perspective to something can make anybody think about the story ‘’Shrek’’ because like the troll, the main character Shrek in the movie is also a troll, someone who is different from the others, because he eats insects and showers in a mud.

He is also far away from everybody else and the people fear him because of what he is and his appearance like the family in ‘’The troll’’. But he meets his best friend and the princess that accept him for what he is, like how the main character accepts the troll.

This can make people think, that the writer of the troll’s message is to accept the people that is different, makes them think, that they can still be loved and accepted despite of their appearances.

The other message that the writer also wants to put out, is on page 3 line 142-143 ‘’ Everything I know that’s worth knowing I learned from the troll. How to charm crayfish from the river.

How to call coins down from the sky. How to belong to no one’’, which means that the main character accepts the unusual traits of the troll, because one can only understand someone if they become closer to them and one can only feel how to belong to nobody if they try to be in their shoes.
