Numerous people such as Fiona Flanagen, Citybois, multiple scientists and philosophers believe this theory. Love has complex irrational and mysterious abilities.

Love is usually a symbol of harmony and happiness, but in the short story, “the man who loves flowers,” (1985.)

The master of horror, Stephen King, exploits love as a manipulating mischief clouding reality and creating madness. As Friedrich Nitche said: “There cannot be love without madness.”

The weather, which was previously described as “soft and beautiful” (page 1, line 2), is redescribed in this section:

(p. 3 line 25) “Now the stars were out, and the lane was dark and shadowy, lined with vague shape of garbage cans.”

The contrast regarding dark and light, advocates the contrasting plot twist. (The protagonist is a murderer).

Stephen king also includes horror typical mechanisms with repetitions: (page 4, line 5-6) “love in the dark, screaming in love, screaming, screaming” and (page 4, line 7) “He swung the hammer, swung the hammer, swung the hammer.”

These repetitions create intensity and tempo. The murder scene is the only point in the story, where King utilizes the horror genre instead of the otherwise consistent terror.

Just as the story has had its climax, (obviously the murder), the story initiates descriptions mirroring those found in the beginning.

That includes repetitions of words like “smile” and “beautiful”. The narrator returns to emphasizing the springtime.

The emphasis on the main characters murder have been attenuated to a value near zero. The readers however realize his actions, and therefore the perception of the protagonist is greatly diminished.

Even though the first section of the story is seemingly idyllic, king includes a few hidden foreshadows:

The protagonist’ pocket, which we later realize carries a hammer, is mentioned a few times way before actually used.

(Page 1, Line 1) “a young man with his hand in his pocket” and (Page 1, line) “he reached into his coat pocket and touched the something in there.” “Something” is a word, that expresses mystique.
