Indledning
” The Gentlemen of the Jungle” is a fable, with a clear moral, written by Jomo Kenyatta in 1938.
Kenyatta was a member of an anti-colonist movement and was sworn as the first president of an independent Kenya in 1964 to his death in 1978.
Therefore, it makes sense that he uses themes such as greed and injustice to describe Africa as the victim of imperialism.
The unfair bond between the main characters is a metaphor for the unjust relationship between the native Africans and the European colonial powers.

Kenyatta’s story is told by a third-person limited narrator. This narrator is known for only using “he” and “they”.
Another important tool to the third-person limited narrator is access to a character’s feelings and thoughts.
In this case, we are in the mind of the protagonist, the man, and we share his high hopes for a just solution to the loss of his home.
“The man was very pleased by these sweet words from the King of the Jungle, and innocently waited for his opportunity, in the belief that naturally the hut would be returned to him.”
The man’s thoughts of the whole hut situation are in the start very naive. He finds it nearly impossible that he shouldn’t be treated as an equal.
