Tony Blair’s speech was an explicit response to the London bombings. It was delivered a few days after the attack, which took place in July 7th, 2005.
He begins his speech by arguing the fact of facing the threat of terrorism. By calling terrorism an evil ideology, the speaker emphasizes that it has nothing to do with the civilized world.

He continuously connects his descriptions of terrorism and the ideology behind it with negative adjectives. For instance, he says “Horrible murder”, “Evil ideology”, “almost devilish logic”, “callous indifference” etc.
By using these negative words to describe their actions and ideology, he creates an emotional reaction within the audience
which are meant to automatically associate Al-Qaeda, their terrorism and ideology with something unpleasant and wrong.
