Ship of fool is a short story written by the infamous terrorist and author Ted Kaczynski also known as “The Unabomber”. The narrative was published in 1999 and is based on the author’s thoughts about today’s society.
The story is about a ship full of fool , that will not listen to the cabin boy when he attempts to turn the ship around and save them all.
Homophobia, equal wages, racism and more problems we experience in America are something the Unabomber choose to include in his narrative.
No one cares about what he has to say. Material goods or wishes are not what Cabin boy focuses on. Instead, he is trying to make the protesters realize that the ship will drown if they keep sailing north.
Rather than listening, they keep focusing on themselves and their complaints and needs, which is obvious here: “But all you do is whine about petty little issues like…” “…
"Kicking the dog is not a 'petty little issue!"' screamed the animal lover. "It's heartless, cruel, and brutal!" (ll.30-38 p. 298). He stands out from the rest of the group, and that makes his character interesting.
