Indledning
John Agard was a poet, short story and children’s writer. John Agard was born on 21 june 1949 in British Guiana (now Guyana)

His poem (remember the ship) Can be interpreted in many ways. I have chosen to do it on my way how I think it means.

“For is not each member of the human race a ship on two legs” indicates that there are many races among us, but we are alle the same at one point.

Life goes up and down and we just must keep up with the tide. It is written, “that knows no boundary of skin” suggesting that despite looking different, whether black, white, yellow or brown.

We are alle humans and should be allowed to be here. If we give space to each other, we can all live in harmony.

Finally, if we come out into the world with an open heart, we can welcome all, signifying a whole new beginning.

Multiculturalism in Britain is a diverse subject; we all live together, regardless of cultural background. Some have more difficulty integrating than others.

Some show plenty of enthusiasm and initiative by opening a shop, seeking employment, or pursuing education.
