Good afternoon ! My name’s Sofie and I’m a student at the University of Glasgow in the county of Lanarkshire, Scotland. As a politically active student, I’ve been invited to participate in the conference held by the Mayor of Glasgow.
I’m an active member of the Glasgow Students’ Representative Council, which is a charitable organization registered in Scotland.

Let me ask you another question. How many of you have your phone on you right now? In your bag? In your pocket? In your lap?
Even in your hand at this exact moment? Almost all of the audience has their phone near them, at this exact moment.
You may be surprised, but actually, it is very natural for the average person to have their phone near them at all times of the day; most people have their phone near even at all times of the night!
On our phones, we carry half of our identity, our credit card, our contacts, our private emails and text messages, our photos, and our ID cards. It is even possible to carry our home key, car key, and hotel key on our phone.
