Indledning
Many new-born babies get adopted because of family problems or their parents have passed away. It can happen to everyone, and they must settle and get raised by a new family.
For the child it can be very hard to get used to the new surroundings. It is also hard for the other children in the family, because there is suddenly a new brother or sister, that takes all the attention from the parents.

The relationship between Peony and Jasmine is very complicated, they have two completely different lifestyles. “I often thought she was adopted.
She should’ve been. She split our family more than she unified it.” (ll. 31-32) Jasmine is so different, that Peony thinks she splits the family apart.
But in the end Jasmine give Peony an envelope which says, adoption and birth certificate. Peony discover that she is adopted, she is very surprised and cannot understand it, it does not make sense to her.
