McDonagh criticizes Gorman for lacking poetic content with purely emotional technique to capture the viewers.

Paisley Rekdal believes that she is doing exactly the right thing by maing the poem more varied, so the extent of the target group´s understanding is increased.

Mcdonagh expresses her deepest frustration with the quote: “Take the poem away from the moment of delivery and look at the actual text, and The Hill We Climb turns out, I think, to be just a bit rubbish.”

However, Paisley Rekdal acknowledges that:” She was able to take her background and use it to the best effect to get people to really be sucked into that poem.”.

Kristian leth, Danish musician, author and poet acknowledges the same issues as mcdonagh. He believes that the good reception was a matter of course because the country was in a difficult situation.

He describes the poem as filled with:” Energi, glæde og smil. Emmer af fremadrettet drift og Håb” (Energy, joy and smiles. Exudes forward-looking Instinct and hope)

He indicates that she has been inspired by both Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, who had great success speaking to the people when the country was divided.

He says: “Hendes digt var en rigtig god tale – Måske mere end det var et godt digt”. (Her poem was a really good speech – Maybe more than it was a good poem)
