Indledning
The story "Oh Mary Don’t You Cry Anymore" is written by Fay Weldon in 1992.
It takes place in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. It's about a small family, consisting of a woman, Shirley, and her two daughters Gracey and Lisa.
Shirley was married to Lisa and Gracey's father, but he didn’t share her interest and excitement for yoga, guitar playing and mind-expansion groups and so they slowly fell apart. Shirley had an affair, which lead to their divorce.

She is a very positive person, who believes that she and her family only need each other to survive. She is quite the hippie. Her old friends have grown up and live more conservative lives.
Because of that, the family has been a bit excluded from the community. She tells her daughters not to wear footwear, as she doesn't believe that it is essential for their lives.
