Manhood was written by John Main in 1980. It is a short story about a young boy and his father.
The father has too much expectation for his son, and he wants him to be a good athlete so that he can be proud of him, all because he did not have the support in his childhood to become an athlete.

Mr. Willison is very ambitious. He wants to give his son, Rob, all that he did not have a child, and because he wants to give all that he did not have, he becomes very strict with him.
He ends up getting frustrated at the ending of the story because of him getting disappointment.
He complains about his height and his physical appearance and he does not want Rob to be like him. Mr. Willison is the most important person in the story.
