Indledning
As a graduate student, what the future holds is a terrifying prospect; many people are afraid of making mistakes.
It's important to note that making mistakes and learning from them are also necessary parts of the learning and creative process.
Neil Gaiman's speech "Make Good Art" focuses on this subject. Neil gives good life and career advice to the university students in his speech, based on his own experience as a writer.

The intention is very clearly conveyed in the speech and Neil makes it very clear that he wants the audience to know what he wants to convey.
It's very clear what Neil Gaiman's purpose in giving this speech is, and he actually mentions it himself “I never really expected to find myself giving advice to people graduating from an establishment of higher education.” (lines 1-2).
Neil's main goal in giving the speech is to provide good advice to the young graduates.
Which he does in the most effective way possible, namely by sharing his own life experience. Another significant purpose is that he shows his support to the young artistic.
Neil has no intention of being a role model for these kids, but he will be. He essentially says in this speech that no one is perfect, that no one needs to be perfect, and that he, if anyone ever, is not.
