Tells us that she really isn't used to look different among her classmates. Equally Farida is questioning “how many girls at the school that wore glasses too.”
A handful, and they were mocked by everyone else. The above examples, really shows Farida’s fear of being the new girl with glasses. It also shows Farida’s fear of looking different among the other classmates.
A thing that does not come naturally for Farida. So, in this moment Farida realizes what the glasses might do to her look outwardly
but not really focus on what the glasses will help her with. This is a problem for Farida. A problem that she struggles a lot with.
