Indledning
Everybody got plans and dreams for the future, something one wants to experience in life before it is too late. Sometimes life happens, and something or someone come in between one's dreams and wishes for the future, and that is where one must either prioritize oneself or the obstacle.

In Alison Moores short story “Eastmouth” from 2014, the main character Sonia ends up in a dilemma whether she should choose life in Eastmouth as her boyfriend Peter wants, or whether she should travel the world as she wishes herself.

The same thing Is shown in the restaurant, where Sonia rescues an insect that has been trapped inside a candle, this indicates that Sonia identifies with the insect, and wishes someone to come and rescue her out of her trap.

When Sonia finds out she is pregnant, she doesn’t tell Peter right away and tries to hide it from him, for example at the restaurant when Peter asks Sonia if she is all right, she nods, she also pretends to drink the wine, and also declines Peter's offer to taste his seafood, this indicates she fears life with Peter, and possibly life in Eastmouth.

In the short story, Sonia appears to be afraid of conflicts. Sonia never confronts Peters parents, and is polite towards them, even though Peters parents possibly have something to do with all the strange things happening to Sonia during her stay in Eastmouth:

her sticker getting changed, her jacket being taken together with her pregnancy test and Peters mom possibly rejecting Sonias work offer, to try to get Sonia to stay in Eastmouth, it also seems like Peters parents are trying to make her forget about the life she had before she came to Eastmouth.

The short story takes place in Sonia's boyfriend Peter´s small hometown Eastmouth, which is placed on England’s south coast: “” We stick to England, the south coast.””2 .

Eastmouth is described as a very small town where everybody knows each other: “” They’ll know we´re here” says Peter “Who will?” asks Sonia “Everyone” says Peter”3 .

It is also described as a town very nothing ever changes: “” I doubt they´ve changed a thing since your parents first came here””4 .

When Sonia arrives, she is wearing a bright and colourful jacket, later in the story, Peters mom says she is washing the jacket and offers Sonia to wear hers instead, this tells the reader that the town is very neutral and colourless and that Sonia would stand out from the other citizens if she wore her jacket, Peters mom is trying to make Sonia fit in as a local.
