Uddrag
The short story “Crossing” from 2009 is a story about an American man and his son. We follow them when they go on a camping trip in the wild.

The man and the son are the only characters we meet in the story. We don’t know that much about them - only that the little boys’ parent are divorced.

We hear the story through the thoughts of the father, which means that he is the main character.

The divorce has affected the father in the negative way, which we sense by the line “For some reason it made him happy, and he hadn’t been happy in a while” where Mark also manages to make the reader feel sympathy for the father.
