Indledning
Over the past decades scientists have been warning us about the dangerous and cataclysmic effects of global warming and climate change.

Rising temperatures, bad air quality, extinct species and decreased supply are just some of the many consequences of today's modern lifestyle.

Still, we seem to ignore the ongoing issues that cause our planet to slowly, but surely, getting destroyed by humans.

Though climate change requires immediate attention and is one of the most significant problems that the world is facing, many seem to believe otherwise.

Another celebrity who has spoken out about climate change is Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Almost 14 years ago, back in 2007, DiCaprio teamed up with film director and producer Leila Conners to create “The 11th Hour”, a movie warning of the dreadful consequences of doing nothing about climate change .

In 2019 the duo reunited to produce the documentary “Ice on Fire” because “things have not improved”, according to Conners.

It was made to reinforce the seriousness of the situation and at the same time offer concrete solutions and proposals that can reign in climate change.

As the narrator, DiCaprio highlights the scientific evidence which shows that if we continue to release carbon and other gases into the atmosphere, the effects are going to become more and more catastrophic.

Furthermore, the documentary seeks to inspire people to follow environmentally responsible pathways that can reverse its effects.

“Since the advent of the industrial revolution, we have burnt over 1.4 trillion tons of carbon into the atmosphere”, DiCaprio says in the opening minute of the film.

He proceeds by telling us that the very existence of life on Earth is threatened, and that even though we have long had alternatives to fossil fuels, the future looks disturbing.

But, experts may have found a solution by recently discovering how to pull carbon out of the atmosphere which gives us a chance to reverse the effects of unchecked climate change.

Moreover, he emphasizes that we are running out of time, and that scientists say we must implement these solutions immediately.

Throughout the film, DiCaprio explores many different methods to achieve a more eco-friendly future, for instance planting redwood forests, urban farming, carbon-sequestering machines etc.
